Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is a common edible mushroom. Long cultivated in Asia, it is now widespread in temperate and subtropical forests throughout the world.
Cooked the tender parts of oyster mushroom using any method, they have a soft, chewy texture and it tastes a little like seafood.
It is not suggested that this mushroom be eaten fresh but instead be cooked first. Often stir-fried, deep-fat fried, braised or sautéed, Oyster mushrooms are popular in casseroles, cooked with fish or cooked and added to chicken and chicken dishes.
The mushrooms should be stored in their original container, paper towels or a paper bag and placed in the refrigerator.
